THE HAIR CYCLE
Hair growth and hair loss are influenced by numerous factors such as environmental conditions, genetic dominance and hormone messages. Each individual hair follicle grows a single hair in a cycle consisting of 3 phases: the long period of growth, the anagen phase lasting 2 to 8 years, followed by the 2 to 3 week catagen phase (period of involution); it ends with the 2 to 4 month telogen phase, where the hair is at the resting stage before it is shed. Normally 80% to 90% of the hair is in the anagen growing phase.

Melatonin
The effect of Melatonin on the activities in the hair follicle has been investigated in various studies. A clinical study showing that topically applied melatonin influences hair growth in humans when diffuse or androgenetic hair loss occurs has recently been published (British Journal of Dermatology 2004; 150: 341-345).

Ginkgo biloba
Ginkgo biloba has beneficial effects on the peripheral blood circulation and may increase the nutrition of the hair follicle which may be beneficial for hair growth. It also possess antioxidant and free radical scavenging activities as does Melatonin.

Biotin
Biotin is an essential micronutrient for normal cellular function, growth and development.

IMPROVEMENT OF HAIR TEXTURE

The improving effect of ASATEX® on hair texture has been investigated in two use tests with female and male participants using ASATEX® daily for 3 and 6 months. After 3 months only 3% of the participants observed ongoing hair loss, 42% stabilized and 55% showed an improvement in the hair texture. In those participants the appearance of hair density measured by the TrichoScan® Technology improved by 30% after 3 months daily application of one monodose and 43% after 6 months application.

DIRECTIONS

ASATEX® Swiss Melatonin Hair Formula is provided in convenient plastic monodose applicators. Each plastic monodose applicator contains product sufficient for one daily application of ASATEX®.

Twist off the tip of one plastic monodose applicator. Apply ASATEX® Swiss Melatonin Hair Formula directly to dry scalp at bedtime. Using your fingertips, gently distribute the product to the scalp in areas where hair is thinning. Apply once daily for 5 to 7 days per week for at least 3 months. For best results: at the end of the initial 3 month use period, repeat daily application of ASATEX® for four weeks at least every other month. There is no evidence that colouring, perming, or use of hair relaxers interferes with the effectiveness of ASATEX®.
